The All Progressives Congress, APC has set up a five man disciplinary committee to investigate allegations of rebellion levelled against the Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Lawali Shuaibu.

The development came as the party’s National Working Committee, NWC passed a vote of confidence on the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole following allegations raised against him by Shuiabu.

The five man committee headed by the deputy national chairman, South, Otunba Niyi Adebayo is to address the allegation that Shuaibu tried to stir National Assembly members-elect against the decision to adopt Senator Ahmad Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as presiding officers of the National Assembly at a meeting where the decision was adopted at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

A statement issued by the national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu following the NWC meeting said the Adebayo committee would investigate the “instigation of Senators/Members of the House of Representatives by Senator Lawal Shuaibu against the decision of the Party on the choice of the Presiding Officers for both chambers (Senate and the House of Representatives) at the banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, even when these issues were all discussed and agreed by all members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

“Sen. Lawal Shuaibu’s action was particularly embarrassing by moving around the Senators/Members of the House of Representatives to revolt while Mr. President was making his concluding remarks on the need for APC to present one candidate to avoid a divided house.”

The committee is expected to submit its report within seven days.
