Buhari’s Critics Divided Over Herdsmen Inscription On Passport

Rabid critic of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, Reno Omokri has separated himself from criticisms of the inclusion of Fulani herdsmen on the visa pages of the new Nigerian passport.

Some critics including Apostle Johnson Suleiman and Chief Femi Fani-Kayode had flayed the decision. Fani-Kayode particularly took exception to the decision saying it was like encrypting the image of Adolf Hitler on the Israeli passport.

“They have slaughtered more Nigerians over the last 4 years than Boko Haram have done in 10 and they have been designated as the 4th most deadly terrorist organisation in the world by the international community,” Fani-Kayode wrote in a statement on Friday.

“To dedicate a page of the Nigerian passport to them and paste their picture on it represents the biggest and most gratuitous insult to the Nigerian people that has ever been served.

“It is like dedicating a page of the Israeli passport to Adolf Hitler and the Nazis that slaughtered 6 million Jews.”

Apostle Suleiman had equally condemned the inclusion of the herdsmen in a twitter post saying:

‘That’s the new Nigeria passport..it now has herdsmen inscribed in it…it’s shameful that a certain extraction now represents a nation with six geopolitical zones..everything is now very clear..God will frustrate every evil agenda in Nigeria. Job 5v12, Eccl 8v11.’

Omokri, himself also a man of God and a harsh critic of the Buhari administration disagreed with the two men saying that the Fulani of Nigeria extraction also deserve a place in the passport.

He said:

“I am against RUGA and I am against ISLAMISATION. I am willing to spill my blood to ensure that both of them DONT see the light of day.

“But as long as other ethnic groups are represented on the new Nigerian international passport, I don’t see anything wrong in it bearing the image of herdsmen and their cattle. Herdsmen are also Nigerians. We are against KILLER herdsmen, not PEACEFUL herdsmen. We must promote PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE.

“I have now received other pages of the new passport. It has images of ethnic nationalities from all 6 geopolitical zones. The issue of herdsmen on the passport may be distasteful to some due to the killings by killer herdsmen, but it is not wrong. It is necessary for peaceful coexistence”.
