The Coalition of Southeast Youth Leaders, COSEYL has urged the two dominant political parties in the country to zone the 2023 presidential ticket to the Southeast saying that a Nigerian president of Igbo origin will bring his entrepreneurial spirit to catapult Nigeria to heights unknown.

The group in a statement made available to GWG affirmed that it would be against the course of natural justice not to zone the office to the Southeast given what claimed as the zoning of the office in the past.

The statement issued by its president-general, Chief Goodluck Ibem while saying that not zoning the 2023 ticket to the Southeast would lead to chaos, nevertheless pleaded with stakeholders to ensure that the right thing was done.

The group said in part:

“We demand that the highest office in the country, which is office of the president be zoned to the South East geo-political zone by APC and PDP after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

“The refusal of any big political party to zone the presidency to the South East in 2023 simply means swimming against the tide of the core vinculum of our democracy in Nigeria.

“Those who are clamouring that the North should take the presidency after 8 years of President Buhari are not patriotic, they place their personal gain and aggrandisement above the survival , progress and success of the country.

“A Nigerian President of Igbo Extraction will take Nigeria to greater heights because the Igbo man will bring his entrepreneur spirit to bear and he sees every where he finds himself as his constituency. He is not tribalistic. He believes in ideals of a United Nigeria.

“We therefore call on other geo-political zone to support the aspiration of brothers in the South East in order to move the country forward.”
