Junior Pope’s Family Includes Wife in Burial Arrangements After Public Outcry

The family of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope (Pope Odonwodo) has revised his burial poster to include his wife, following widespread criticism and public pressure. The new poster, circulating online, acknowledges Junior Pope as a “son, brother, husband, father, and grandson,” unlike the initial version that excluded his wife.

GWG.ng reports that this development comes after a controversy erupted over the first burial poster, which listed Junior Pope’s family members but omitted his wife. The oversight sparked outrage and speculation about the actor’s relationship with his wife before his untimely death in April.

The controversy intensified when the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), led by President Emeka Rollas, paid a condolence visit to Junior Pope’s parents, seemingly neglecting his wife and children. This sparked further questions and criticism from netizens.

Junior Pope’s tragic death, along with five other crew members, sent shockwaves through the Nollywood industry. Reports indicate that the actor died by drowning while filming on a river without proper safety measures. The movie producer, Adanma Luke, has faced intense backlash for her alleged carelessness leading to the tragic loss of life.

The revised burial poster is a welcome development, acknowledging Junior Pope’s wife and her importance in his life. The actor’s burial is scheduled for May 17, 2024, in his hometown in Enugu.
