A Lagos State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Tinubu, Lagos on Tuesday struck out the car theft charge leveled against hip hop artist Naira Marley and three family members.

Naira Marley, real names Adeyemi Fashola, was arraigned alongside two brothers and a cousin before Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias following a complaint of assault and theft brought by a complainant, Adelakan Ademola last month.

They were charged with a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, assault and obstructing the police from arresting Marley.

Marley, his two brothers Idris Fashola, 18, Babatunde Fashola, 24, and their cousin, Kunle Obere, 22, were the defendants in the case that was brought against them by the police.

Marley’s convoy was reported to have hit Ademola along the road in Victoria Island and following it assaulted him and drove away the vehicle. A move by the complainant to retrieve his vehicle even with the aid of policemen was said to have been resisted by Marely and his entourage thus triggering the charge.

However, following a settlement on the issue the charge was struck out by the magistrate on Tuesday.
