DSS Arrests Tanker Drivers Over Strike Action

The Operatives of the Department of State Security, (DSS), on Tuesday arrested some members of the petroleum tanker drivers in Kano for enforcing the decision to shut  down   filling stations in protest over the arrest of  their members.

Some tanker drivers were arrested for alleged attempt to smuggle petroleum products out of the country.

DSS described the strike action off shutting filling stations as illegal and arrested some of the drivers.

.An Operative of the DSS who pleaded anonymity, said that eight filling stations shut down by Petroleum Tanker Drivers , had already been opened.

He said, “We have arrested so many of them for closing down filling stations without justifications, this is because we cannot allow lawlessness in the State”.

The Petroleum Tanker Drivers commenced indefinite strike over what they described as daily harassment of their members by the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS).but the Customs denied the allegation of arrest. NCS claimed it arrested those drivers taking petroleum products out of the country
