APC election shift

The Acting National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Victor Giadom says the party will obey the court order suspending Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from office as the national chairman of the party.

Speaking to newsmen amidst intrigues at the national secretariat, he said the party would meet soon to deliberate on the development.

“Like I did say, there is a court injunction and it is binding on us as a party to respect all the court injunction.”

He spoke as heavily armed security men on Wednesday took over the national secretariat of the party with an order to newsmen and everyone to vacate the premises until 10.00 a.m. on Thursday.

The security men came in the heels of another protest by anti-Oshiomhole protesters who besieged the secretariat of the party to demand the exit of the chairman from office.

Responding to the developments, Giadom said:
“As a party we are aware of the injunction. As a law abiding party we will respect all lawful court orders. Very soon, the National Working Committee will meet and you will hear further from the party. I am trying to say that the All Progressives Congress will respect all lawful court orders. We will soon do that”.

Asked if that was a confirmation of the suspension of Oshiomhole from office, he said:

“Like I did say, there is a court injunction and it is binding on us as a party to respect all the court injunction.”

On if the party was shopping for an acting national chairman, he said it was not within his powers even as he claimed ignorance of any meeting to respond to the development.
