Coronavirus: Nnamdi Azikiwe University Suspends Chinese Language Course

The coronavirus scare has led to the suspension of the popular Chinese language course at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

The development was upon the grounding of the lecturers of the course some of whom travelled to China.

The university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone who spoke to newsmen on Monday said that he had directed those who travelled to China to remain in the country in the meanwhile.

He also said that he had directed lecturers and students involved in the language exchange programme to suspend the trip.

He said: “Some of our teachers travelled to China on vacation in December are not back and we have asked them to remain there. Also, those that are here have been asked to remain in the country and it is therefore proper to say that coronavirus has affected our Chinese programme.”
