Nigerian film actress and motivational speaker, Hilda Dokubo has kicked against the appointment of Senator Elisha Abbo as the Patron of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN)

Senator Abbo representing Adamawa North Senatorial District was said to have been appointed as patron by the association’s president, Emeka Rollas.

“I, Dokubo will not have an abuser serve as a patron in an organisation that I belong to.

The Senator became popular last year after a video showing him assaulting a nursing mother at a sex toy shop located in  Pleasure Chest Shop FA 45 Located at Banex Plaza Aminu Kano Crescent Wuse II Abuja, surfaced on the social media.

The lawmaker received harsh criticism from many Nigerians, who called for his suspension from the upper chamber.

Reacting to the development, Dokubo, in a video posted on her Twitter account, lambasted the leadership of the association for appointing someone of Abbo’s calibre as patron, arguing that a woman beater cannot represent the interests of actresses in the association.

She said, “The responsibility of Patron is to educate and motivate people into positive action.

“Get him out now! I am calling all right-thinking, mentally balanced, honourable male and female members of Actors Guild Nigeria to stand up and reject Elisha Abbo as a patron of the association.

“I, Dokubo will not have an abuser serve as a patron in an organisation that I belong to.

“An abuser of women as Patron of Actors Guild of Nigeria is an unpardonable abuse of the rights of all the females in the creative space especially actors.

“We must stop every attempt at rubbishing our values as a people with such appointments in whatever guise. Consequently, Senator Abbo ‘sextoysenator’ must be delisted from our list of Patrons now.”
