The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu has been called upon to resign his appointment even if he were exonerated of all the charges leveled against him.

Mr. Dennis Amachree, a former Assistant Director with the Department of State Services, DSS said that it had become evident that the system and President Muhammadu Buhari had lost confidence in him based on the fact that the probe of the EFCC boss took place in the Presidential Villa.

Amachree who spoke in an interview on Channels Television said that given the estimated 20 charges against Magu that it would be almost impossible for the EFCC boss to escape all the charges leveled against him.

According to him if the allegations were two or three, he said that room could be given for exoneration but with the charges said to be up to 20 that it had become a near difficult task for Magu to prove.

The former DSS operative, however, said that if he were in Magu’s shoes that he would resign his appointment even if he were completely exonerated given what he indicated as a presidential backing for the probe.

“If I was Magu and I go before this panel and they give me a clean bill that all the allegations against me are faulty, once I come out, what I would do is to resign.”
