Mixed reactions have trailed the dramatic slump of Prof. Kenebradikumo Pondei, the acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC during testimony at a public hearing of the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta.

Pondei slumped under pressure as he was put to task on the legitimacy of his expenditure of budget funds for payment of students fees without legislative approval.

As he fainted those around came to his aid and eventually helped him out even though he was still dazed.

The lawmakers had queried the acting managing director on the reasons the commission paid N642 million to Clear Point Communication.

The video clips of the development have appeared on the social media, and many Nigerians described the development as theatrical display by the NDDC acting managing director to evade questioning.

This is not the first time public officials will faint or develop ‘strange’ illness during trial of their financial mismanagement.

@_Starbiola tweeted:  “The ACTING MD OF NDDC reminds me of Fayose whose neck got broken by Tear gas Omo this country is a pure cruise ??.”

@TosinOlugbenga tweeted: “When they were embezzling billions on Naira meant for the development of Niger Delta, they didn’t slump. Now they are asking them to provide answers to why they stole the money, they are faking slumping/fainting. 1.3 billion stolen in the name of palliative #NDDCProbe.”

@Fisayosoyombo tweeted: “Kemebradikumo Pondei, acting MD of NDDC, fainted during today’s hearing at the National Assembly. Nigerian public officials only faint or become sick during public hearings, police arrests and court trials on their financial dealings. Any other time, they’re as fit as a fiddle.”
