COVID-19: Student Writes WASCE Inside Isolation Centre

A COVID-19 positive SS 3 student has written the Mathematics examination of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Gombe, Gombe State, it was announced on Monday.

The student tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday and was moved to the isolation Centre. With a plastic chair and a neighbouring bed serving as a table, the unidentified was watched over by an examination officer who wore protective gear inside the Isolation Centre.

The 2020 WASSCE was scheduled for Monday, August 17th, 2020 with Mathematics as the first subject.

The Gombe State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre posted pictures of the young boy writing the examination with the investigator standing by to monitor the process.

“A final year student of GSSS Gombe tested POSITIVE for COVID-19 and was isolated yesterday,today he is writing Mathematics SSCE while ensuring his invigilator is well protected,” the agency wrote.
