Ararume’s Hope Sinks As APC Submits Ibezim For Imo North
By GWG Staff
The All Progressives Congress, APC has submitted the name of Mr. Frank Ibezim as its candidate for the forthcoming Senate election in Imo North, party sources have said.
Sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the submission of Mr. Ibezim’s name was done by the Mallam Mai Buni led caretaker committee last weekend.
The decision was despite the avalanche of criticisms from some party stakeholders and the division that marked the affairs of the party’s panel that conducted the party primaries for the vacant seat.
While the chairman of the panel, Senator Ajibola Bashiru and three other panel members returned Ibezim, three other members of the panel returned Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as the winner of the same primary conducted in a different location.
Yet, other stakeholders agitated for others in the contest especially the sister of the former occupant, Ms. Chidinma Uwajumogu.
Ibezim, a close associate of the minister of state for education, Emeka Nwajiuba was projected for the ticket by the combined forces of the minister and Governor Hope Uzodinma who are said to both have a common political aversion to Senator Ararume.
Even more, sources disclosed that Governor Uzodinma did not want a situation where Ararume could go to the Senate and use the platform to join forces with Senator Rochas Okorocha to fight his political dominance of Imo State.
