Defamation: Toke Makinwa To Pay Ex-Husband N1m

The Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square has ordered prominent On Air Personality, OAP, Toke Makinwa to pay N1 million as damages to her ex-husband, Maje Ayida for defamation.

The court, in a judgment given by Justice Olukayode Ogunjobi, also affirmed that Ms. Makinwa must within 30 days remove defamatory words against Ayida from unsold copies of her tell-all autobiography titled “Unbecoming”.

Ayida, a body building expert and Makinwa were married on 15 January 2014, after an eight year relationship.

The pair, however, separated in 2015 following Ms. Makinwa discovery that her husband had impregnated a former lover.

The marriage was dissolved by a Lagos High Court on the ground of adultery on October 5, 2017.

In her revealing book she made several allegations against Ayida including the claim that she was infected with STDs during the marriage.

Ayida took her to court and won his case on Thursday.
