The Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd.), has charged Nigerians for being too forgetful saying that security under President Muhammadu Buhari has made tremendous improvement.

According to him Nigerians are too forgetful of where they are coming from.

Magashi disclosed this on Thursday when he appeared on Channels Television’S Politics Today saying that things are not as bad as many Nigerians are painting it.

He said: “Nigerians forget too easily. There was a time in this country were there were bombings everywhere. An Imam was killed in a mosque. Insecurity was everywhere.

“When this government came, we knew what we did. In Borno State, also 20 local governments were captured by Boko Haram but as soon as Buhari came, they were dealt with and we took over all the local government.

“A lot of things which used to happen before have since stopped but unfortunately, our effort has not been appreciated.”

Magashi also pointed out that when the government said that Boko Haram is technically defeated it simply meant that the insurgents are no longer occupying the local governments they were occupying before and he stated that the National Assembly should have summoned other executive officers working with the president to talk about security instead of summoning the president.

GWG reports that the National Assembly had summoned President Buhari to the floor of the house concerning the issue of insecurity but the president declined the visit at the eleventh hour.
