Kidnapped Katsina School Boys Freed In Zamfara

344 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State kidnapped a week ago have been released GWG has learnt from multiple sources including Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

The governor said the students are presently being kept in Tsafe in Zamfara State before they would be moved over to Kankara on Friday. The children are expected to sleep over before being returned to Katsina State.

Governor Masari, GWG gathered had earlier ordered their immediate return but changed mind to allow the children pass the night in Tsafe.

Mr. Suleiman Tsiga an information officer in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State also confirmed the development to Channels Television.

Sources disclosed that the release followed hard negotiations between the bandits on one side and federal and Katsina State authorities on the other.

It is not known if a ransom was paid. However, the 344 released is above the 333 boys government had claimed were abducted.

Other sources say that more than 500 students were unaccounted for after the incident a week ago.
