The Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital & New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has come under attack for posting “fake news” on social media.

Ahmad had taken to his Twitter handle on Sunday sharing a picture of ripe strawberries with the caption, “This is from Plateau, Nigeria, some respondents said otherwise, I got the picture from a friend early 2020.”

Although Ahmad is not sure if the farm produce is from Plateau State, however added that, “whether from PT or not, I believe we have best”.

His statement has sparked social media reactions considering that for some time farmers and herders have been clashing and this has affected farm produce. Some Nigerians took to the micro-blogging platform to call out the presidential aide for his post.

Popular activist, Aisha Yesufu, enjoined the presidential aide to look for real Jos strawberries and the farms and tweet about them.
