Prince Uche Secondus has rebuffed insinuations all around of a plot to remove him as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. the claim was coming against the background of claims of plots to remove Secondus by some party chiefs.

Faulting the claim that South-South leaders of the party were presently shopping for his replacement, he said that on the contrary, he had done much as to win the applause of party stakeholders.

He said he had been able to increase the number of states controlled by the party from 11 to 16.

Secondus who spoke in a statement issued by his media adviser, Ike Abonyi said:

No Plot To Remove Secondus

“Aside delivering internal democracy, which it promised the party when it got the mandate in 2017, Secondus’ leadership has also grown the party to control 16 from 11 states when it took over.

“Recently, NWC set up a high-powered peace and reconciliation committee, headed by former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, with another former Senate president, Anyim Pius Anyim, as member with other top leaders to reconcile aggrieved party members.

“In addition, Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State is working closely with the Secondus-led NWC in all ramifications to grow and strengthen the party.”

Secondus was seriously backed if not imposed as national chairman by the incumbent governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. However, in recent times there have been varied reports of a falling out between the two men. Wike had in the past charged the Secondus led National Working Committee, NWC of indiscretions but without giving any proof.

Wike’s claim nonetheless, party insiders say that the Rivers State governor is one of the greatest supporters of the party among the governors.

With the falling out between both men, it has been alleged that Wike may be in the plot to remove Secondus, but he has not publicly disclosed his intentions.
