Cost of Lampard Sack to Chelsea

Chelsea have parted ways with Frank Lampard after just 18 months in charge with Thomas Tuchel set to become his successor. The cost of Lampard’s sack to Chelsea is being estimated to be up to £10 million

He was sacked following a poor run of games, which saw him win just once in five Premier League matches.

After spending £222 million in the transfer window, the Blues have failed to assert their authority on the Premier League. They have been displaying below par performances under the tutelage of Frank Lampard and it was looking like the managerial shoes were too big for him. According to the club, they didn’t see Lampard as being capable of meeting the club’s expectations. Chelsea owner, Roman Abrahimovic said: “This was a very difficult decision for the club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him.

“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, the board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as head coach and wish him every success in the future. He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”
