Nnamdi Kanu In Shock Praise Of Nigerian Police
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the reported arrest of policemen who tortured some Orlu residents. To the shock of some, Nnamdi Kanu in praise of the Nigerian Police welcomed the development.
GWG recalls that a few days ago, the Orlu in Imo State, made the headlines as soldiers and some operatives reported to be members of the IPOB inspired Eastern Security Network (ESN) engaged in combat. Some persons were reported to have died from the incident.
Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, had placed a state of emergency in Orlu and some neighbouring Local Government Areas in his bid to stem the crisis.
A video emerged online where some policemen were seen man-hadling some residents of Orlu as they sat on the floor.
The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Nasiru Mohammed, swiftly reacted to the development as the state Command arrested four police officers seen in a viral video and announced that disciplinary measures have since commenced.
According to Mohammed, the act was unprofessional and unacceptable by the force.
Reacting to this development, Nnamdi Kanu in shock praise of the Nigerian Police, took to his Twitter account on Friday saying that he will begin to have a change of perspective if the police truly prosecutes the policemen.
He wrote: “Dear @PoliceNG: If the reported ARREST of some policemen for the carnage at #Orlu turns out to be SINCERE, it will change my perception of the police as an instrument of State terror. Charge these criminals in uniform to Court immediately to prove your sincerity. Thank you!”
Kanu’s stance was welcomed with sound approval from many of his followers who while eulogizing his leadership of the group, nevertheless called for the disciplinary action promised against the policemen to be carried out to the letter.
Some, however, said they action was of little concern to them in their quest for a referendum.
