The Connection Between Anger And Destruction

AND Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. Numbers 20:11.

The action of lifting his hand was a completely different pathway from what God had told Moses. God had told Moses to take the simple action of SPEAKING to the Rock, but he RAISES his hand to smite the Rock.

Now, his action followed the burst of anger started in verse 10 when he spoke down on the people.

You would notice that verse 11 in the KJV starts with the conjunction, AND, which links the anger in verse 10 to tge wrong step of lifting up the hand to smite the Rock.

That’s what anger does. It links up with wrong actions. That why we say he was angry AND did this or that.

Anger sets us on a completely different pathway from the pathway that leads to the righteousness that God desires. James 1:20.

The wrath or anger of man never takes u in the direction of God’s plan. Rather it will work you up to do wrong.

Anger makes you to lose your emotional balance AND then your physical integrity. You see someone angry and see his face twisted and next he can damage anything nearby.

Do you see an angry man climbing a ladder? He has to calm down first!

Beloved, may God help us to control ourselves in the face of whatever situation around us that we may not take the wrong path from what God desires of us.
