How Nigeria’s New Army Chief Died In Plane Crash

A military plane carrying the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru crashed as it landed at the Kaduna Airforce Base in Kaduna on Friday evening.

The airplane was said to have crashed in very bad weather occasioned by rain.

The plane was said to have been carrying seven other persons besides the new army chief.

The plane according to reports crashed as it touched down the runway under very bad weather.

The Nigerian Air Force confirmed the incident in a statement issued shortly after the crash.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said the incident occurred near the Kaduna International Airport.

“An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,” he said.
