Danjuma

Lieutenant General Theophilus Danjuma is in good health, holidaying in Spain with his wife, Senator Daisy Danjuma far from rumours in Nigeria that he has died, the family has said.

The clarification follows rumours in certain quarters concerning the wellbeing of the celebrated infantry soldier and general.

Danjuma, a retired Nigerian Army Lieutenant General played key roles in post-independence military and political events in Nigeria serving as army chief between July 1975 and October 1979 and also, as Minister of Defence under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration from 1999 to 2003.

Danjuma who clocked 82 last December has largely been out of public circulation, a development that may have swirled the rumours on his well being.

Reacting to Danjuma’s death rumours on Monday, a close family source dismissed the rumours as unfounded saying that the General is doing well and presently in Spain enjoying an holiday trip with his wife, Daisy.

“It’s has become urgent and important for us to respond to the rumour flying round that the retired General who hails from Takum LGA of Taraba state is no more, this remains a rumour as it is not true. These are just group of persons who are bent of paddling fake news and using same to gain possible traffic on their sites,” the source told Vanguard.
