The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has ordered an internal review of the allegations brought against the famed Nigeria crime buster, Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police.

The order follows the scathing indictment raised against Kyari by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI which has obtained a court order for his arrest.

The court order follows revelations in the case involving convicted billionaire fraudster, Abbas Ramon, also known as Hushpuppi.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Hushpuppi had claimed that he offered bribe to Abba Kyari to arrest and contain a fellow con-man with whom he fell out with over the sharing of a $1.1 million booty gotten from defrauding an Arab man.

Upon the revelations, the FBI had obtained the court order for the arrest of Abba Kyari and also asked Nigerian authorities to track down Abba Kyari .

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported Kyari as denying the allegation with the claim that his hands were totally clean over the issue.

In the first official reaction by the Nigerian authorities on the matter that could tarnish one of the most high profile crime busters in the history of the police, police spokesman, Frank Mba said that the Inspector General had ordered an internal review of the issue.

Mba, a commissioner of police, said:

”Sequel to the receipt of allegation and indictment processes from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against one of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Abba Kyari, the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc (+), NPM, fdc has ordered an internal review of the allegations.

”The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to the pursuit of justice and the strengthening of its professional relationship with the FBI and other international partners.
