A group in Delta State, Progressives Movement for Democratic Change has excused Senators Ovie Omo-Agege and Peter Nwaoboshi from culpability in the alleged petition supposedly written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and targeted at some close aides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

A news report that has been circulated on social media had claimed that the petition was coordinated by Senators Omo-Agege and  Nwaoboshi with the intention of distabilising the Ifeanyi Okowa regime ahead of the 2023 governorship election.

The report had claimed that it was part of the desperation of the two All Progressives Congress, APC senators to foist their will on the people of Delta State by intimidating the aides and administrative structure in Delta State.

However, responding to the unfolding development, the Progressives Movement for Democratic Change in a statement signed by it’s Director of Media Mr. Vincent Hitler described the report as a story conceived by a government it claimed was jittery.

Noting the panic it claimed had set into the Delta State political leadership, the group said the government was selling the dummy of being hounded by the EFCC and the ICPC with the intention of putting a diversion to the alleged misdeeds of the administration.

The group challenged the Okowa PDP administration to come clean with it’s activities and publish the audited financial records of the State government since the over 6 years in the saddle of governance, if it has nothing to hide instead of raising false alarm occasioned by fear of it’s many atrocities committed against the State.

The group stressed that Omo-Agege and Nwaoboshi are preoccupied with important National assignments for the betterment of their constituents and Deltans in general therefore, they do not have time to chase after aides of Governor Okowa who are reportedly most insignificant as indicated in the said report.

The group queried the rationale behind the news report which could only attest to the fact that the PDP government and it’s agents has something to hide hence becoming alarmist to divert attention from their misdemeanors.

The group advised the PDP and supporters of Governor Okowa to leave the APC leaders (Omo-Agege and Nwaoboshi) alone to concentrate in the task for which, they were elected and put it’s sinking and corruption infested house together as no amount of mudslinging will stop the determination of the electorates from sending the PDP packing from Government House Asaba come 2023.
