Football Storm On Social Media As Man United, Chelsea Lose

Published

on

Matchday 6 of the English Premier League commenced with early kick-offs in London and Manchester.

Title favorites Chelsea welcomed Man City to Stamford Bridge, while Man United hosted Aston Villa, hoping to banish memories of their midweek EFL Cup exit at the hands of West Ham

Guardiola’s city finally broke the jinx, defeating Chelsea after losing their last three attempts in all competitions, a lone Gabriel Jesus strike was enough to seal three points for City.

Man United’s hopes of a better weekend were dashed as high-flying Aston Villa sealed an unlikely win at Old Trafford. An 88th-minute goal from Hause could have been cancelled by a Fernandes penalty, but the Portuguese star blazed over.

As it is with football banter, fans and opposition took to social media for the typical light-hearted banter and lamentations.

Here are some tweets from today:

CHELSEA

@Fortunecares Someone should tell city players and fans that they got 3pts from Chelsea not UCL title, we are still holding the trophy

@kaycee_roc: We can’t get sentimental here, Chelsea got rid of Lampard, see how they play with 2 trophies, Ole is not capable of doing that, heck we don’t have any strategy with Ronaldo in our squad, never going to win anything with him get rid of him Asap, Zidane is available.

@OluwabukunmiJ: Chelsea fans using United to console themselves. You’ll drop your phone & reality will hit you

@Hickory92: Actually glad Manchester City managed to beat Chelsea earlier. Say what you like about both clubs, but Guardiola encourages good football. Tuchel is a pragmatic manager who favours a dour, dreary style and Chelsea are fairly dismal to watch as a result.

@dannycamp__: Lemme hear someone say Chelsea taking the league this year I’m in the mood to slap someone

@dezreport: For all the possession-dominated, we created 1 big chance all game against an Aston Villa side that got whitewashed by Chelsea at home. Ronaldo, Cavani, Pogba, Fernandes. No matter who steps on the pitch, we play with Vibes. Pure Vibes. GET OLE OUT OF MY CLUB!!!

@Jeff_Tymer_: Just a reminder that Chelsea had No single shot on Target throughout the match

MAN UNITED

@sistoney67: The bullish noises in pre-season out of club about progress @ManUtd have made under OGS don’t hide fact this is 3rd full season + club must compete for trophies at the least. Still early but 5pts dropped, out of one comp + losing start in another is poor considering opposition.

@Czooba: But how did Man United lose to Aston Villa at Old Trafford with Ronaldo, Bruno, Pogba, Cavani and Greenwood. It’s only right to ask these questions and get the right answers in all honesty!

@Omojuwa: I can’t even banter Chelsea. They lost today but they have the players AND the manager to thrive. As long as Solksjaer is Man United’s manager, the best even Messi will for them is score in 21 straight matches but they will still flop like the Barcelona he was carrying.

@EdmundOris: Last week Man United won 3 points with De Gea saving a last min penalty This week Man United lost with Bruno Penandez ballooning a last min penalty. You live by the penalty, you die by the penalty.

@AazPlay: Any other ELITE FOOTBALL CLUB would hv put an end to the Ole freak show long ago. But the @ManUtd board knows having a out of his depth puppet sorry manager means he won’t call out their greed & incompetence. And with the players in the squad even he’ll be able to get top 4
