Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus gave defending champions a 1-0 win over rivals Chelsea on Matchday 6 of the English Premier League.

The victory marks the end of a run of three consecutive defeats to Tuchel’s Chelsea for Guardiola’s City.

A goalless first half dominated by the visitors, saw them take the lead in the 53rd minute from a Jesus strike.

The striker placed a deflected shot to help City leapfrog Chelsea in the table on goal difference, ending the Blues’ unbeaten league start.

City offered far the greater enterprise, with Jesus’ winner helping Pep Guardiola avoid an unwanted first of losing to the same rival manager four matches in succession.

Meanwhile, neighbours, Man United tasted consecutive defeats for the first time this season, following a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.

In a match filled with last-minute drama, it looked destined to be a goalless draw until Hause popped up in the 88th minute to give Aston Villa a 1-0 lead.

The drama was far from over as Hause conceded an extra-time penalty, but Fernandes blasted over failing to draw United level.

The defeat is Man United first in the Premier League this season, as the Red Devils will be looking to improve as they face off against Villarreal in the Champions League. Man City face a difficult task as they travel to Paris to face a star-studded PSG, while Chelsea embarks on a trip to Turin to face Juventus this coming midweek.
