Air Man Held As Details Emerge Of How Bandits Penetrated NDA
An Air Force personnel has been arrested in connection with the attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA Kaduna State, the Air Force revealed on Monday.
Bandits had in the early hours of August 24 attacked the NDA’s permanent site, killing two officers and abducting another.
The arrest came as Channels TV reported on Monday that the bandits who came in a vehicle were said to have passed through the security gate into the academy, disguised in military uniforms, after which they proceeded to the officers’ quarters.
Three months after the incident, authorities of the Nigerian Air Force have now linked one of its personnel with the incident.
A source confirmed the arrest of the suspect to Channels Television on Monday.
The suspect – Sergeant Torsabo Solomon – was reportedly arrested on the order of the Base Commander as requested by the NDA Commander.
The officer who was arrested in Yola, Adamawa State capital is currently attached to the Air Force Comprehensive School, Yola.
A source disclosed that Solomon was arrested with arms and ammunition following an order of the Base Commander as requested by the NDA Commander for an offence connected with the recent attack on NDA, Kaduna.
The source said: “On 08 Nov 21, at about 0600hr, NAF07/ 23922, SGT Torsobo Solomon of 153 BSG (AIRFORCE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL YOLA) was arrested on the order of the Base Commander as requested by the NDA Commander for an offence connecting with arms and ammunition with recent bandit attack at NDA Kaduna.
“At about 0815hr, ATR with reg no NAF 930 to arrive flight line to convey him from Yola to NDA KADUNA for further interrogation.”
Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Nigeria Air force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet did not respond to enquiries on details of the arrest.
It was gathered that the officer is presently being quizzed by Defence Intelligence Agency.
