‘Thought This Was Lewandowski’s Year’, Reactions Trail Messi’s 7th Ballon d’Or

It was a straight contest between Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski for the 2021 Ballon d’Or, and in the end, it was the Argentine who took home the crown.

He already held the record for six Ballons d’Or triumphs, but as has been the case throughout his career, Messi has gone one step further and shattered his own tally, now sitting pretty on seven.

Following Messi’s emergence, a large section of football fans felt Lewandowski was robbed of the award, taking to social media to air their opinions on the development.

A few felt The Argentine deserved it following his Copa America success with Argentina in the summer. Other just hailed the greatness that Messi represents.
