Rapper In Court For Shooting Man In Buttocks

American rapper, Pooh Shiesty has pleaded guilty to a single firearms conspiracy charge under a deal with federal prosecutors that means he’s no longer facing a possible life sentence for allegedly shooting a man in the buttocks at a Florida hotel.

According to Rolling Stone, the charge stem from an October 2020 altercation in Florida, where the rapper allegedly shot a 28-year-old man in the buttocks while considering a purchase of sneakers and cannabis.

With Pooh Shiesty’s guilty plea, federal prosecutors dropped three other charges that could have resulted in a lifetime prison sentence.

Magistrate Judge Lauren Fleischer Louis accepted the new plea after cautioning that the jointly recommended sentence of no more than 97 months outlined in the non-binding deal was not guaranteed at Shiesty’s future sentencing hearing before Chief Judge K. Michael Moore.

“If Judge Moore gives you a sentence that is higher than what you were hoping for, that will not be grounds to withdraw your plea. Do you understand?” Judge Fleischer Louis said during the afternoon hearing in federal court in Miami.

“I understand,” Shiesty, who already has been in custody for seven months, replied.

The United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida said in a statement that the rapper could face up to 20 years in federal prison. But a sentencing date has not yet been set.

In July, a federal judge in Miami ordered that Pooh Shiesty, whose legal name is Lontrell Williams, be held without bond, following his arrest for a June altercation in which a security guard was shot. The incident had occurred while Williams was out on bond for the 2020 charges.
