Ronaldo records

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a scintillating hat-trick against Tottenham bringing his total goal records for club and country to 807 even as Manchester United notched a premiership record of 400 wins.

Indeed, with the 3-2 win, Manchester United moved back into the Premier League top four.

Ralf Ragnick was certainly looking for a response after his Manchester United side lost devastatingly to City last week, and Ronaldo who was absent from their last league match took matters into his own hands as he delivered for his German boss inside 12 minutes, unleashing a rocket from 25 yards out into the top corner to score the opening goal. Tottenham will be sick of the sight of United’s number 7, as he has now scored against them in seven consecutive Premier League meetings. Antonio Conte’s men put up the fight after going a goal down and they equalised just before the half-hour mark through Harry Kane. The Englishman stepped up to convert a 19th consecutive spot-kick.

Three minutes later Ronaldo was in the thick of things again as he restored his team’s lead with a simple tap-in into the net after being set up by Jadon Sancho. After Spurs equalised for the second time on the night, once more there was no stopping the inevitable force as Ronaldo rose highest in the box from a corner kick to score the second hat-trick of his United career, taking his side back into the race for a Champions League spot next season.

The Red Devils kept up their remarkable record of never losing having been ahead on home turf in Premier League history. That run now spans 302 games, with United winning an outrageous 279 of them. Here are key facts as United edged Spurs 3-2;

• Manchester United have now won exactly 400 Premier League home games, becoming the first team to reach that milestone in the competition. 23 of those wins have been against Tottenham, also more than any side has beaten another at home in the Premier League.

• Cristiano Ronaldo (37y & 35d) has scored the 49th hat-trick of his club career, while he becomes the oldest player in Premier League history to net a treble after Teddy Sheringham in August 2003 (37y & 146d).

• Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored more goals for club and country more than any other player in history with 807, an all-time FIFA record overtaking Josef Biscan (806).

• Tottenham have lost five of their last eight Premier League games (W3), as many as they had in their previous 20 in the competition (W12 D3).

• Cristiano Ronaldo scored his second Premier League hat-trick and first since January 2008 against Newcastle. His two trebles were separated by 14 years & 59 days, the longest gap between hat-tricks for a player in Premier League history.
