Governor Mai Mala Buni was on Tuesday preparing to stage a powerful comeback to relevance in the All Progressives Congress, APC after his men formally retook possession of the national secretariat of the party.

Leading his allies on Tuesday was the secretary of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe who returned to his office on Tuesday.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Akpanudoedehe had been out of the office for days and his fate became uncertain for some period after he was alleged to have been replaced by Adamawa State born Professor Tahir Mamman.

Akpanudoedehe had been loyal to the CECPC chairman, Buni against the injunctions of the 19 governors who had earlier last week claimed that he was finished.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State was quoted in a television interview to have said that Buni was finished and would not return to the national secretariat having been replaced by Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger State.

Vanguard reported on Tuesday that Akpanudoedehe was escorted to the office by some other allies of Buni including the Kogi state chairman of the party, Abdullahi Bello and some aides of Gov. Buni.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Hope Uzodimma of Imo and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun States have been reported as the only governors now backing Buni.

Last week as a sign of the coup against Buni, Governor Sani-Bello had parked his car in the space designated for the national chairman of the APC at the national secretariat.
