Brazil top FIFA rankings

Brazil have risen to the top of football again for the first time in five years after FIFA released the list for the Men’s World rankings.

The South Americans who have already booked their ticket for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will have more to celebrate as they sit at the top of Men’s international football for the first time since April 2017.

The Seleçào leapfrogged Belgium who had been at the top position since 2018 and are now ahead of arch rivals Argentina who sit at the fourth position, a place behind World champions France and a spot ahead Euro 2020 runners-up England who complete the top five.

Brazil who lost out in the 2021 Copa America final 1-0 to Argentina on home soil via a goal from Angel Di Maria, have since then been in exquisite form as they stormed to successive run of games without defeat going on to top the South American qualifying table to book yet another World Cup ticket.

With qualification to the global fiesta in Qatar come November, Brazil have now become the only team in the history of the World Cup to qualify for every single tournament since its commencement.

The five-time World champions now hold the record as the nation with the most World Cup appearances with 22, ahead of Germany and Argentina who have 20 and 18 appearances respectively.

However, with a talent stacked squad mixed with youth and experience, Brazil will set their eyes on their first World Cup triumph since they last won it in 2002 against Germany. Their star-studded group of players involving Europe’s best players such as Neymar, Casemiro, Allison, Fabinho, Firmino e.t.c and veterans who have appeared in the World Cup more than twice like Dani Alves and Thiago Silva, combined with young talent in the likes of Vinicius Jr. , Antony, Gabriel Martinelli to mention a few.

Brazil at the top of FIFA rankings are definitely favourites to look out for in Qatar.
