Reactions As Police Arrest Twitter User, Toyosi Over False Kidnap, Rape Alarm
A Twitter user identified as Omo Toyosi has been arrested after raising a false kidnap and rape alarm causing fear and tension online.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Toyosi tweeted that she was kidnapped and was being raped at a location in Lagos causing the police to raid the location.
She wrote: “I’m being kidnapped guys. I’m being raped. Number 78 Obayan Street, Pako, Akoka, Lagos.”
However, after investigations and follow up on the case, it was confirmed that Omotoyosi was only chasing clouts with her tweet.
Toyosi released a video on Twitter later in the day, apologising for her action and calling for an end to threats to occupants of the house address she mentioned.
Nigerians however have called on agencies involved to take necessary action as her tweet was misleading and false. This has led to Omotoyosi being arrested and detained.

Omotoyosi’s arrest has stirred numerous reactions online. While many Nigerians blamed her for her action, others commended the effort of the Police for acting promptly on the matter. Some reactions gathered:

False allegations as this from opposite sex have landed many in jail.
