Peter Obi, a former Anambra Governor, was until his resignation from the PDP one of the 15 aspirants vying for the presidential ticket of the PDP.

Peter’s decision has stirred massive reactions from social media users. While many commend the candidate for taking a bold step to walk away from a corrupt party, others opined he is making a mistake by leaving the opposition party.

I thought Reno of The PDP is a pastor? A pastor that supports the buying of delegates with dollars… Do not entertain that guy, he doesn’t have PVC. He’s spiting Peter Obi to gain cheap publicity..

It was because of the massive support the SE gave to PDP in 2015 that Buhari refered to the SE as 5%, others labeled the SE as people who had put all their eggs in one basket, and when it was the time of the PDP to zone to SE, the party betrayed the SE.

Nigerians believe in Peter obi and beckoned on him. The PDP tried to make a caricature of him. Peter obi believed in his call to serve by the people, risked it all and then took a chance on the Nigerians. He needs our support more than ever now. Let’s show this people shege!

By leaving the PDP, Peter Obi has gained millions of followers who ab initio refrained from campaigning for him due to their perception of the party. All he needs now is a clean slate. The work is massive but it is possible. Wish him all the best!.

However, an exception to the doomsday prediction for the PDP following the resignation of Peter Obi came from Reno Omokri, former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan who is now aligned to Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming presidential primaries of the opposition party.

In a series of tweets to the resignation of Peter Obi from the PDP, Reno Omokri said:

Reno Omokri @renoomokri

You say Peter’s exit is the end of the PDP? Peter was not in PDP in 1999. PDP won Peter was not in PDP in 2003. PDP won Peter was not in PDP in 2007. PDP won Peter was not in PDP in 2011. PDP won The only times PDP lost were 2015 and 2019 when Peter was in PDP #TableShaker

Reno Omokri @renoomokri

If Peter Obi moves to NNPP and is given their vice presidential ticket to run with Kwankwaso as Presidential ticket, they won’t win the 2023 Presidential election. However, they can prevent the PDP from winning. Such a scenario may lead to an automatic APC victory! #TableShaker
