The viral video of votes’ miscount at the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential primaries has been addressed by party officials who affirmed that the slip was quickly corrected by other officials present at the venue.

The votes’ miscount was, however, corrected subsequently.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had earlier published the video of one of the officials at the convention skipping the count from 79 to 100. It was not immediately available who was the beneficiary of the mistake which was immediately corrected.
The miscount was, however, corrected by vigilant officials who supervised the process.

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, co-chairman of the Election Management Committee debunking assertions of rigging at the convention told GreenWhiteGreen GWG:

“There was no rigging during counting which was done in the presence of all the agents of the aspirants and in full glare of the press. If there was rigging as alleged there would have been protest and there was none.

“What happened was that there was a mistake in the course of counting some ballots and a recount was done to the satisfaction of everyone. We conducted a transparent, free and fair primaries and deserve commendable not aspersions for helping to deepen our democratic culture.”

APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who won the primaries with a landslide and he has been congratulated by all his major rivals including Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Hon Rotimi Amaechi among others.

Despite the votes miscount, the conduct of the APC presidential primaries has been especially commended by many stakeholders.

Tinubu polled a total of 1,271 votes – more than four times the votes scored by his closet rival, Rotimi Amaechi who had 316 votes.

Yemi Osinbajo, Ahmad Lawan, and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State came behind the duo with 235, 152, and 47 votes respectively.

More than 2,300 delegates voted in the contest that produced Tinubu as the presidential flagbearer of the ruling party.
