Worried by the seeming detachment of the Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC from the mainstream of the party in the country, some party stakeholders in the state have commenced moves to take back the party from the grip of Governor Yahaya Bello.

The stakeholders mostly followers of  the late first civilian governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu it was gathered are embarrassed that the state’s delegates did not contribute a single vote to the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the party.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the late Audu and Tinubu were political soul mates. Tinubu’s right hand man, Rep James Faleke was Audu’s running mate in the November 2015 election that was stalemated after Audu died midway into the election.

Given the close relationship between Tinubu and Audu the Kogi APC stakeholders it was gathered are feeling embarrassed that the state could be cut off from the APC mainstream with the emergence of Tinubu as presidential candidate.

Tinubu had contested with Gov Yahaya Bello who refused to step down for Tinubu and collected all the votes from the state.

It was learnt that APC members drawn from the three Senatorial Districts in Kogi with the late ADOJA’s political dynasty, are putting finishing touches to give a new impetus to the party in the state outside the plans by Governor Yahaya Bello.

The elders have also vowed to bring together all the supporters of late Prince Abubakar Audu under one umbrella.

A competent source close to the arrangements disclosed that efforts are on top gear to establish contact and mobilisation committees with a view to interfacing with Adoja’s political associates in the State and beyond.

“Our common goal is to rescue the Kogi State chapter of APC and reset it on a path to vote in transformational and purposeful leadership at all levels of governance, especially, during the Presidential Election.

According to him “We’re making some consultations in the direction of reviving late Adoja’s political structure in Kogi.’

“We can’t ignore this fact that Tinubu’s score in Kogi was 0. Seventeen (17) Kogi delegates voted for Gov Yahaya Bello and 30 votes from some other States added to give him 47.

“What we’re trying to do is to bring together all adherents of ADOJA ; we need a deliberate reform in Kogi APC as it stands today, because the party as presently arranged cannot win a Presidential election in the State. We’re not talking of governorship yet.”
