The governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has accepted a large number of defectors from the All Progressives Congress, APC with erstwhile close ally of Rotimi Amaechi and APC Board of Trustees, BoT member, Chief Sam Sam Jaja leading the sizeable defectors into the Peoples Democratic party, PDP..

GWG reports that the Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt, clearly came to a standstill as Wike carried out his campaign threat to demolish every APC stronghold there. In Port Harcourt, significant Amaechi supporters and APC leaders who also led other political groups joined the PDP.

Along with Sam Sam Jaja, who at one point served as the Peoples Democratic Party’s national vice chairman, thousands of their supporters defected, including Chief George Tolofari, Mr. Princewill Dike, Hon. Fred Igwe, Hon. George B. Nwidam, and Hon. Kennedy Ebeku, Ph.D.

One of the APC defectors claimed that one of the causes for leaving their party was Gov. Wike’s impressive accomplishments.

He claimed that working with the governor would improve the chances for the state and its citizens to experience more development.

The “11th-hour homecoming” celebration for the defectors took place in Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt on Saturday and was witnessed by a sizable throng which showed up to see the historic occasion.
