Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, the paramount ruler (Oluwo) of Iwoland, has advised the Federal Government that funding traditional institutions in Nigeria will help to alleviate security challenges.

According to the Osun state monarch, traditional rulers know their terrains and can thus devise appropriate security architecture to address insecurity.

Oba Akanbi stated this in a statement titled ‘Insecurity: Oluwo calls for funding of security for Traditional Rulers’ on Friday.

Nigeria is facing security challenges, particularly in the North-West, where Fulani bandits are killing and abducting innocent citizens.

Oluwo described the structure of the royal kings as the most effective in combating insecurity, stating that the institution requires both constitutional and financial mobilization to secure the country.

“The most effective structure to checkmate insecurity is to empower traditional rulers constitutionally and financially,” the monarch said. As a father to my subjects, I am familiar with every nook and cranny of my domain. I have Baales, Chiefs, and Princes scattered throughout my territory.

“I know who to call for detailed and factual information if anything goes wrong anywhere.” If there is a breach, those appointed by my office must know who is to blame. You can’t just make a mistake here. “I have a well-organized and efficient government.”

He stated that the federal government should respond quickly to the call, which will strengthen the traditional institution and, as a result, restore peace in Nigeria.

“I implore the federal government to fortify the institution.” The state of the nation necessitates increased patronage of the institution. Responsible monarchs should be on the lookout for security threats.”

“I’m expecting a quick response from the government.” Should the government look into this matter, most of us can still act,” Oba Akanbi added.
