Kidnap

Some masked gunmen have reportedly abducted a yet-to-be-identified motorist in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos State.

According to eyewitnesses who shared their accounts of the incident on Twitter, the man was forced out of a black Toyota Corolla he was driving on Medical Road in the area.

According to @girllikehelen, who shared photos of the vehicle, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. in front of the Slot retail shop.

“The owner of this car was allegedly kidnapped on Medical Road in Ikeja this morning,” she wrote. According to my source, the gunmen approached the car’s owner and asked him to exit the vehicle; he refused. They drew their weapons, and he refused to get out of the car.

“They then took out a cutlass.” He got out of the car, and they drove away in their vehicle. The gunmen were six in number and wore masks.”

@RealMabel99 confirmed this, saying the gunmen used a cutlass on the victim’s leg.

“They later took him after cutting his leg with a cutlass,” she explained. I was present. People were powerless to intervene because the men were armed and disguised. Lagos is no longer secure. “I’m still in a state of shock.”

@NwaoguMarvis, who claimed to take the route to work every day, said he saw a crowd at the scene.

“Nowhere in Nigeria is safe anymore,” he wrote. For this to happen at 8 a.m. on Medical Road?”

Another eyewitness, @AmaOmenma, stated that the crowd gathered around the man’s car, which had been left behind after the gunmen had taken him away.

“Everyone was fleeing, ready to shoot at anyone in sight.” Some threw stones at them, but they eventually bundled him away,” he added.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident.

He said, “I am aware of the situation. It was as narrated on social media. We have commenced investigation; we have leads. But we are not saying much about it so we don’t jeopardise investigation.”
