Outrage, Political Fireworks As Benin Oba Goes To Court (Video)

The highly revered Oba of Benin Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, was on Thursday morning trending after political actors in the state subtly entered the fray to politicise what some alleged as a family dispute within the royal family as another dimension in the alleged cold war between the Benin Royal Palace and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

GWG.ng reports that the highly respected monarch had in the past been alleged to have a fosty relationship with his son, Godwin Obaseki and most recently over the custody of the returned Benin artefacts recovered from Europe.

Against the background of the cold war, a Nigerian lady with the TikTok account, @missnatural01, called out Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, for allegedly dragging the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, to the Federal High Court.

In a video she shared on her TikTok account, she alleged that the governor Obaseki secretly summoned the Oba of Benin to court, adding that the elections were used as distraction.

She further called on all sons of the Benin soil to be present at the Court by 8am on Thursday, to defend the Oba.

However, GWG.ng reports that the main case has to do with the alleged rebellion by some Benin Chiefs, a move some political actors are nevertheless alleging to be inspired by some highly placed political actors in the state.
