New Details Emerge On Why Suspended Adamawa REC Declared Binani Winner While Collation Was Underway

Intrigues are playing out in Adamawa State as a husband and wife in the nation’s capital city, Abuja call the shots behind the scene of their well shielded residence over the bid of Senator Aishatu Binani to become the first female to be elected governor in the country.

Binani according to sources is being backed by an Abuja based very powerful former male admirer who some allege may have had a love interest towards the senator many years ago when the male admirer first became divorced from a former wife following the abrupt end of his career.

That was before his second marriage and eventual entry into the political terrain.

Some allege that what was supposed to be a marriage between the two did not occur as the male admirer eventually married another beautiful lady from the same Adamawa State with name resemblance to the distinguished senator.

It was also not confirmed if the former male admirer had a role in the successful bid and execution of contracts by Binani’s company for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The wife of the very powerful former male admirer has a male relation who had previously sought the APC ticket before being settled into a powerful position in the financial sector of the Federal Government.

While there is no confirmed relationship between the powerful male former admirer and the APC candidate, it is alleged that his wife is not very comfortable with her husband’s devotion to Senator Binani’s political career.

The very busy husband was said to have made an exception in attending Senator Binani’s campaign flag-off in Yola as part of his body movement to indicate his preference for her election.

His support for Senator Binani is what is believed to have led to the revelation of a telephone chat with a senior INEC official in Yola alleging that he was under pressure from powerful people in Abuja over the election.

Meanwhile, some allege that the wife of the former male admirer is sympathetic to the incumbent governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri because of her husband’s pursuit.

Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar who is not shy about his position and has confronted Binani’s male admirer in the public space in the past, is not hiding his rage, accusing the government officials of trying to cook the figures to suppress the alleged victory of the governor.

It is not known if Binani who has accomplished on her own without the support of her powerful former male admirer is conscious of the split she has caused within the well protected boundaries of his Abuja residence arising from their inconclusive love.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the  March 18 governorship election in Adamawa as inconclusive.

Prof. Mohammed Mele, the state INEC returning officer said this when he spoke with newsmen on Monday in Yola.

Mele said that the election was cancelled in 47 registration areas, 69 polling Units with the total number of 41,796 registered voters.

“The number of Permanent Voter Cards (VCs) from the affected polling units  in the different Local Government Areas (LGAs) affected is 37,016.

“After the collation we calculated the total number of votes with the two leading candidates with the highest votes, APC with 390,275 and PDP with 421, 524 votes.

“So this gives us the margin of 31,249 and the total number of PVCs collected in the places amounts to 37,916,” he said. (NAN)
