Man Returns Borrowed Library Book after 36yrs

A book that was borrowed from a Manitoba, Canada, library 36 years ago has just been returned.

The Horizon Book of Ancient Rome, which had been checked out on October 14, 1986, was returned late, according to the Winnipeg Public Library, by a user who visited the Louis Riel Library.

The customer claimed that throughout the years, he had moved 28 times with the book.

“Unlike most highly overdue books where someone finds it in a box or closet that just suddenly appeared long after it was forgotten about years earlier, I have always known where this book was, on my shelf in full view. Haunting me. Taunting me. Invading my dreams,” library officials quoted the man.

The man claimed that hearing about another book that was returned in Winnipeg after 33 years gave him the idea to do the same with his book.

“I never did read it. I suppose I didn’t have it long enough to find the time to,” he joked.
