Victor Osimhen scored in the second half of Napoli’s 1-1 draw versus Udinese to hand his side their first ever Serie A title since 1990.

The Partonopei had a 15-point lead prior to the clash and needed just a point to clinch the Scudetto. They had the chance to become champions in their last game against Salernitana but a late goal from Senegalese forward Boulaye Dia delayed the celebrations in Naples. This game began just the same way their last game ended as they conceded early on to go into the break 1-0 down.

However, as he has done often times this season, their number 9 Victor Osimhen stepped up to score the goal that handed Napoli their first Serie A title in 33 years. That goal also helped him to become the highest scoring African in a single Serie A season with 23 goals, overtaking Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o. He also edges closer to the Golden Boot as he now sits three goals clear of Inter’s Lautaro Martinez.

The win by Victor Osimhen’s Napoli of the Serie A came as Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho signed a new five-year deal, which will be valid until June 2028. The 18-year-old is set to be out of contract in 2024 but he has decided to extend his stay at Old Trafford until 2028.

The new deal will see his salary adjusted according to his new status in Erik ten Hag’s squad due to the progress he has made since making his first team debut last April. His salary will progressively increase as his role in the team grows, as both parties have finalised  agreements and an official announcement has been made.
