Buhari policy NEMA

President Bola Tinubu has reversed one of the major policy moves implemented by his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari with the decision to return the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to the office of the Vice- President.

GWG.ng reports that the decision to move NEMA from the supervision of the Vice-President to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs was taken at the beginning of the second term of the Buhari administration when the ill-feelings over alleged misdeeds of the Vice-President were supposedly brought to reckoning.

Osinbajo was alleged to have overstepped his bounds while he served as acting president with some notable decisions that were seen as against the interest of some of the president’s inner circle. Remarkably, Buhari did not again transmit power to Osinbajo throughout the second term.

The return of NEMA to the supervisory oversight of the office of the Vice-President according to the presidency is in compliance with the act that established the agency.

The president also approved the return of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to the Office of the Vice President.

Mr Olusola Abiola, Director, Information, Office of the Vice President, disclosed these in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Moreso, Tinubu approved a formal structure for the Office of the Vice President as well as an appropriate number of technical and administrative aides that would work with the vice president in the discharge of his responsibilities. (NAN)
