Tinubu Reacts As D’Tigress Clinch 4th Afrobasket Title

President Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, congratulated Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, for winning the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship.

GWG.ng earlier reported that Nigeria won the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship, making it a record-fourth title in a row.

D’Tigress defeated the 11-time African champions 84-74 to claim their sixth championship at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday.

Nigeria is now the second African side, after Senegal, to have won the championship four consecutive times.

Reacting to the feat in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Saturday, President Tinubu applauded the female basketball team for the well-deserved title win.

The Nigerian leader added that the nation is proud of the girls for their achievement at the championship.

He wrote: “I congratulate our very own D’Tigress @DtigressNG for a well-deserved fourth consecutive AfroBasket Championship. We are proud of you.”
