Governor Dapo Abiodun and senior officials of the Ogun State Government were still mum at the weekend after the chairman of Sokeye Community Development Association, CDA housing 147 households threw back a 25kg bag of rice as palliative given the residents describing it as an insult.

In a video that is trending on X (formerly known as twitter) the CDA chairman described it as an insult for the government to send rice which he said was not even up to a bag for an estate of 147 households.

The Sokeye CDA chairman who went personal against Governor Abiodun over the palliative, vented thus:

“I was just at home and they brought this for me as palliative for the whole of Sokeye Estate. In this estate we have 147 houses with families and tenants living there. I am confused and I don’t know how to share this for 147 households in Sokeye Estate.

“If you guys, the government, I am talking to Dapo Abiodun now, if you people know you cannot do something don’t do it.

“We are not hungry, we are not beggars. So, we don’t need your rice as palliative. This is not even one bag.

“We don’t need this rice. If you want to give us palliative don’t insult us, this is an insult. Sokeye Estate refuses to be insulted.”

GWG.ng reports that the action of the Sokeye Residents’ Association chairman over the palliative has yet to get a response from the government.
