MP hostage released

A British MP, Jo Churchill representing BuryStEdmunds,#Stowmarket, Needham Market and the Villages who was held as a hostage in Bunckigham Palace while King Charles was in parliament to deliver the King’s Speech has been set free following the safe return of the king to the palace.

GWG.ng reports that Jo Churchill who is also Vice Chamberlain of HM Household was held hostage in Bunckigham Palace as a hostage as part of an agreement flowing from earlier centuries to guarantee the safe return of the monarch after visiting Westminister.

The tradition of holding a senior MP hostage follows the impasse that arose in 1629 when King Charles I stopped Parliament from meeting after he locked up the parliamentary chambers.

For 11 years parliament did not meet in a period in English history that is described as Eleven years of tyranny.

Eventually parliament reconvened and King Charles attempted to arrest five MPs but was resisted leading to the English Civil War that led to his execution.

From that time, the monarch has entered the parliament only on the condition that a senior member of the government is held back in Buckingham Palace to secure the safe return of the monarch after his time in parliament.

This year the MP held hostage was Jo Churchill who surrendered herself for the detention until King Charles safely returned to the palace.
