I Found Myself Under Oshodi Bridge After 21 Years In The US, Nigerian Man Shares Heartbreaking Story
A Nigerian man has shared a heart-wrenching tale of how he found himself beneath the Oshodi Bridge in Lagos, where he spent two years sleeping, after living in the United States for 21 years.
During a recent programme with popular Ibadan-based journalist Oriyomi Hamzat, the tearful man recounted his story of splendour to sorrow. He revealed that he had studied Banking and Finance in London, but his life took a downturn after having a dream in which he flew like an eagle in the skies.
In the dream preceding his unexpected journey to Nigeria, he described flying in the skies like a bird and seeing signs welcoming him to Africa, specifically Nigeria. He mentioned encountering familiar sights like cattle and “molue” buses before waking up.
The man shared, “It was after one month; my wife said that I woke up and shouted ‘Nigeria, Nigeria!’ I didn’t plan that I was going to Nigeria. That was how I became sick, and my family rushed me to a Teaching Hospital in California.”
His breakthrough came when policemen on patrol discovered him under the Oshodi bridge in Lagos. Recalling the incident, he said, “Their leader, during an operation in the middle of the night, asked me where I was from. He said, ‘Get up!’ and questioned, ‘Where are you from?’ I answered, ‘I’m from America.’ I regained my senses a bit.”
However, his family’s involvement took a distressing turn. His elder brothers, who allegedly used voodoo to summon him back to Nigeria, met him at the airport, collected his luggage, and dumped him at a psychiatric hospital in Sabo-Yaba, Lagos. When the workers couldn’t locate his relatives, he was sent away, leading to a period of vagabondage in Lagos.
Later, he was taken to a praying mountain at Pakoto Ifo, Ogun State, where he spent six years under the care of the church’s pastor. After the pastor’s demise, the people associated with the prophet discreetly expelled him, leaving him stranded and wandering.
