Rivers Crisis Erupts Again As ‘Speaker’ Alleges New Assassination Threat

Factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, asserted on Monday that he will continue supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara despite threats to him and his family.

He addressed journalists in Port Harcourt, denouncing an alleged attempt by policemen and armed thugs to assassinate him, emphasizing his allegiance to the governor.

Ehie disclosed, “I stand with the state governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. No matter the threat to me and my family, I will continue to stand by the governor.” He highlighted persistent threats since becoming Speaker, alleging attempts to falsely connect him to the murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) SP Bako Angbashim, further claiming efforts to plant weapons in his house.

Calling on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbotokun, Ehie urged the arrest and prosecution of two senior Police officers who allegedly led the attempted attack on his residence.
